About Lucy

Background

For almost a decade, I have volunteered as a correspondent for the Open Spaces Society, Britain’s oldest national conservation body. In this role I have supported cases involving unlawful obstructions, highway disputes, definitive map errors and failures by authorities to exercise their statutory duties.

I have prepared Schedule 14 applications and appeals, drafted Highways Act notices for individuals to sign and serve, assisted with evidence gathering, and helped people understand how to use the law to protect access and public rights of way.

I have also served as a member of the Cornwall Countryside Access Forum, and as an Access & Bridleways Officer for the British Horse Society, advising on access issues, definitive map problems and new highway schemes.

Legal Training

I hold a First Class LLB (Hons) from the Open University and I am currently completing the Bar Training Course with BPP University, with a particular interest in planning, public and environmental law.

Alongside academic study, I have developed practical experience across a range of administrative and public law areas including children’s services complaints, school safeguarding concerns, Stage 1/Stage 2 representations, HMRC and CMS appeals, Freedom of Information challenges, and Ombudsman investigations.

I have also successfully navigated a First-tier Tribunal appeal of my own, giving me a real understanding of how demanding the process can feel for litigants in person.

Lucy Wilson Legal Services (LWLS)

Through Lucy Wilson Legal Services, I provide non-reserved legal services: drafting, research, evidence preparation and procedural guidance. My role is to help clients present their case clearly and confidently while remaining fully in control of their own matter.

Whether you are responding to a planning notice, challenging a public body’s decision, preparing an FOI/SAR or organising an appeal, I aim to make the process clearer, more manageable and less overwhelming.

What Matters To Me

Clarity

Explaining law and procedure in plain, accessible language.

Care

Understanding the human and practical impact of public authority decisions.

Integrity

Being honest about what the law can — and cannot — achieve, and about the limits of my role.
